FAQ – Questions Answered

1. How do I use Delilah Iris Designs sewing patterns?

All the patterns here on Delilahiris.com are available via digital download. Upon purchase you will receive an email confirming your purchase and a download link to the pattern. Click on the link to download and save the file to your desktop or file folder of your choice. You can then open, view, save, and print the pattern.

2. Do I need special software to use or print the patterns?

The patterns are all available as a digital PDF file. You can use any pdf viewing software to view and print. Most people use Adobe Reader which is available free for download at Adobe.com. You will also need a printer or printing service to print the files.

3. Are the toys and felt items hard to make? What kind of sewing skills should I possess?

All that is really needed is basic hand stitching skills. Pretty much all of the patterns available can be completed with a very basic whip stitch. However, I do also offer a handy printable hand stitching guide to help you through all of the basic stitches. You’ll be hand stitching like a pro in no time!

4. Are the toys suitable for children?

Most of the toys made with my patterns are suitable for child’s play. I try to design each toy to be durable and made to last through being played with regularly by my 5 and 7 year old children. That being said – when you sew with my patterns which materials and notions you use is entirely up to you. You can choose to use only child safe materials and omit any small pieces or pieces that can become loose such as snaps, buttons, or doll eyes. I use mostly safety eyes or embroider the eyes and noses. However I occasionally use sew in snaps that, if they were to become loose, would not be appropriate for toddlers.

5. What will I need for materials and/or supplies?

Most of the pages on this site do offer a supplies and material list of sorts.
The materials I use most often are a needle and thread, felt, toy stuffing, pipe cleaners, embroidery thread, printed cotton fabric, snap, buttons and trim.

6. Can I buy these toys ready made or place a custom order?

Yes! I do offer custom and made to order dolls and stuffed animals. Whether you are looking for an item I feature in my social media or website, or are looking for something completely custom made I am open to all inquiries. Feel free to contact me any time to talk about details and pricing!
